Fiona Ellington is a lawyer with a broad litigation practice with a focus on insurance & risk management, estate litigation and surface rights.

In Fiona's Own Words:

"I choose to believe that all problems can be solved. For most people, conflict on some level is inevitable during their lifetime, and it arises in different, often unexpected ways. Some people are comfortable with the discomfort that conflict brings with it, others are not. I help my clients with the uncomfortable, often high conflict, circumstances that can otherwise consume them, and calmly and practically guide them through their options, and towards a resolution. My files are rooted in the intricacies of my clients’ lives and no two are alike. I take the time to listen to my clients, to understand their story, ensure that they feel heard, and assist them in the best way that I can. I respect and acknowledge the significance of the emotional layers that come with most conflicts but have the skill to focus on what is relevant to reach resolution, without being dismissive. I have been extremely fortunate to practice with and receive mentorship from experts in my areas of practice throughout my career at Duncan Craig, and I am grateful for the opportunity to continue to assist our community."

She has appeared before the Provincial Court of Alberta, the Alberta Court of Queen's Bench, and has conducted hearings before the Surface Rights Board.

Originally from Oswestry, England, Fiona moved to Edmonton in 2005 before commencing her studies at the University of Alberta. She received her J.D. (with distinction) in the spring of 2012. While in law school, Fiona volunteered with Student Legal Services.

Fiona joined the firm as a summer student in 2010 and started articling with the firm in July 2012. She was called to the Bar in August 2013 and in January of 2023 was welcomed to the firm partnership.

Fiona is a board member of Pilgrims Hospice Society which provides supportive and compassionate family-centred care to enhance the quality and dignity of life for those diagnosed with a progressive, life-threatening illness as well as support to those who are grieving.
