Ty Barford

Ty Barford is an associate practicing in the areas of employment, insolvency, construction, and commercial litigation.

Ty graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Law in 2025. During his time at the University, he volunteered with the Student Legal Services Criminal Project, where he helped individuals navigate criminal proceedings. He was also member of the Golden Bearristers Rugby Club.

In Ty's Own Words:

"Raised in a small oilfield town, I learned early the importance of hard work, accountability, and practical problem-solving. When equipment breaks down, plans change, or unexpected challenges arise; the work still needs to get done. People find solutions, adapt, and move forward. I am motivated by that same mindset: identifying problems, developing practical strategies, and helping clients navigate difficult situations to achieve meaningful results.

I understand that legal disputes are more than files and court dates. They are burdens that can become a constant source of stress, distracting you from your responsibilities, opportunities, and priorities.

My job is to help carry that burden. You understand the realities of your situation and the outcome that matters most to you. My role is to provide clear, honest advice about the legal options available, help you understand the risks and opportunities associated with each path forward, and advocate for your interests while working with you toward a practical resolution that reflects your values, protects your position, and supports your long-term goals."

Prior to law school, Ty was actively involved in community sports for many years. He volunteered as a coach in soccer, hockey, and basketball, working with young athletes across a variety of age groups. In addition to coaching, he served as the Referee Coordinator for his hometown's minor soccer program.

In his free time, Ty enjoys golfing, fishing, and spending time with friends and family.
