Neil Coghlan is an associate lawyer with the firm practicing in General Litigation. He received his Bachelor of Arts degree (with Distinction in English and History) from the University of Alberta in 2016 and in 2020, Neil completed his Juris Doctor at the University of Alberta. Neil was called to the Alberta Bar in 2021.
In Neil's Own Words:
"I tend to think of myself as more than just a lawyer. I am as human as my clients, shaped by the stories which make us who we are. My practice, specializing in insurance defence and commercial litigation, allows me to not only tell human stories but also provide resilience and optimism to individuals faced with an extraordinary and emotional moment in their lives. While I find the analytical puzzle of each case rewarding, the true value of a lawyer comes through using empathy for advocacy—something I and my firm strive to accomplish."
While in law school, Neil sat as the President of the Golden Bearristers Law Rugby Club and as Chair of Operations for Law Show. Neil currently volunteers with Shepard’s Care Home and particularly enjoys supporting their Remembrance Day ceremony.
Neil is fluent in French and his hobbies include reading literature, technology, trivia and playing soccer. In his youth, Neil played soccer for a nationally ranked club team and currently enjoys playing the more casual side of men’s soccer.
He remains a proud resident of Saint Albert.
